MARYLIN MONROE ART
Drowned World is a 1962 science fiction novel by British writer J. G. Ballard. The novel depicts a post-apocalyptic future in which global warming caused by heightened solar radiation has rendered much of the Earth's surface uninhabitable. The story follows a team of scientists researching environmental developments in a flooded, abandoned London. Like with George Orwell's novel 1983 and Jules Verne predictions in his novels, we are today living in what was once Science Fiction. But the art and writings of the past is now a frightening reality. The water will rise between 3 to 5 metres in less than 10 years because of the melting ice in Antarctica, and will drown many cities close to the waterline. From New York, too Venice, all shorelines and islands. And global warming is creating heat waves that will soon burn down cities on fire at the same time as we are experiencing earthquakes, mudslides, wildfires, and hurricane like never before in human history.
